DPSG-W: From Prepregnancy Planning to
Maternal and Infant Outcomes Conference
The Westin Pasadena 191 N. Los Robeles Pasadena, California 91101
626-729-2727
May 17-19, 2012
This conference focuses on research design and methodology as well as health outcomes related to diabetes and pregnancy. There is increasing prevalence of obesity and diabetes during pregnancy and in the general population of reproductive-age women. This serves as the catalyst for collaboration among diabetes and reproductive health specialty groups to engage in research aimed at discovering the etiology, prevention and treatment of these chronic conditions. A major goal of study is the development of effective treatment modalities to prevent or reduce the rates of diabetes, obesity and associated birth defects as well as to improve perinatal outcomes.
Experts from Obstetrics, Endocrinology, Pediatrics, Nutrition, Epidemiology, Behavioral Medicine and Basic Science will present current research related to the mechanisms of diabetes during pregnancy and the role ofobesity. Topics will cover the reproductive lifecycle from pre-pregnancy through postpartum and include crucial information about the implications of intrauterine exposure on infant and child health outcomes.
